January 2012
Wow, that’s a lot, Stephen! Here we go:
1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.
This one I’ve already done (click here), but let me grab the second closest book.
“Most researchers believe that sensations can be regarded as identical to specific brain states or functions of brain states.” - Foundations of Sensation and Perception, Second Edition by George Mather.
2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
Apart from an IKEA desk thingy where I keep my files, a random clothes pin and a remote, I can touch the TV I brought a few weeks ago. This TV is utterly useless to me for it can only receive a Chinese news channel, a Russian channel and Al Jazeera. Next to those it can receive one Dutch channel which airs a lot of cooking competition shows that make me both hungry and stressful.
9. Did you dream last night?
I probably did because everyone dreams every night, but unfortunately I cannot remember anything about my dreams. In general, my dreams are very confusing and messed up and sometimes even make me question my mental health.
14. Seen anything weird lately?
I just found an envelope with 380 euros in it on my desk and I have no idea where it came from. I don’t know if that counts as a weird sight, but since I couldn’t believe me eyes, I suppose it qualifies.
27. Type of music you like most?
It really differs. Sometimes I listen to pop, both old and new; today I spent all day listening to classical music; and I can even appreciate Dubstep. If I had to answer what music I like most, though, I would have to go for Indie.
28. Type of music you dislike most?
Unoriginal, annoying, meaningless noise that is nevertheless played by most radio stations and makes me want to throw myself out of a window.
64. Is there anything going on this weekend?
Coming weekend, yes! With two of my cousins I am going to the stables and watch Tessa, my sister, ride a horse. Apart from that, I don’t have plans for this weekend. I’ll probably sleep a lot.
77. If you could have any job, what would you want to do/be?
You know, that’s a really good question that I ask myself all the time but I never really know the answer to. I wish there was a job where I could do scientific research while helping people with mental problems while teaching college students and young children while writing books, but unfortunately some of those are hard to combine.
66. What do you think about the most?
Actually, I think about a lot of random things. Usually it is either related to things I have talked about with people in real life and online, things I have learned about in class, or things I’ve read. For example, Saturday morning I finished Lord of the Flies and I spent the rest of the day thinking about the symbolism and group dynamics in the book.

“I followed him upstairs, losing ground as I made my way up slowly, stairs not being a field of expertise for my lungs.” - The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
67. What time do you get up in the morning?
Five or ten minutes before class, usually. And for days I don’t have class, let me answer the question “what time do you get up in the afternoon?”: around 1 pm or so.
